Plain English summary: HeyAskr is for parents. You must be 18+ to sign up. You control what HeyAskr says to your child. We charge $6/month after a 7-day free trial. You can cancel any time. AI is powerful but imperfect — please stay involved.

1. About HeyAskr

HeyAskr is an AI-powered conversational service designed for children, configured and controlled entirely by their parents or legal guardians. Parents set rules in plain language; children receive answers shaped by those rules.

By creating an account or using HeyAskr, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Eligibility and account holders

You must be at least 18 years old to create a HeyAskr account.
You must be the parent or legal guardian of any child who uses HeyAskr through your account.
By creating an account, you confirm that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide is accurate.
HeyAskr accounts are for household use. You may not share your account with people outside your immediate family.
Children do not register. HeyAskr is structured so that children interact with the service through a parent-controlled session. Children are not data subjects of HeyAskr; their parents are.

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Notify us immediately at support@heyaskr.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts where we have reason to believe credentials have been compromised, pending verification.

4. The service

HeyAskr provides the following to subscribers:

An AI chat interface for children, accessible via a parent-controlled account
A parent settings panel where you can write and manage rules in plain language
Support for up to three child profiles per account
Optional text-to-speech voice output (where enabled)
Access via web browser — no app download required

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the service with reasonable notice. We will not materially reduce the core functionality of HeyAskr without offering a pro-rata refund or a reasonable transition period.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use HeyAskr only for its intended purpose: providing a safe, parent-configured AI companion for your child. You agree not to:

Use HeyAskr for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable regulation
Attempt to circumvent, manipulate, exploit, or jailbreak the AI or parent-rule system
Use HeyAskr to generate, distribute, or expose children to harmful, abusive, illegal, or age-inappropriate content
Allow a child under your care to use HeyAskr unsupervised in a manner inconsistent with the rules you have set
Reverse engineer, copy, resell, or redistribute any part of HeyAskr
Use automated scripts, bots, or other tools to access the service
Impersonate another person or provide false identity information
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or another user's account

Violation of these terms may result in immediate account suspension without refund.

6. Parental responsibility

HeyAskr is a tool to assist parents — it is not a substitute for parental supervision. By using HeyAskr, you acknowledge that:

You are responsible for the rules you set and for keeping them appropriate and up to date for your child.
You understand that AI technology is imperfect and may occasionally produce unexpected responses despite the rules you have set.
You will remain engaged with how your child uses HeyAskr and will check in regularly.
You will update your rules promptly if your child's needs, age, or circumstances change.

7. Subscription and billing

Free trial

HeyAskr offers a 7-day free trial. No credit card is required to start the trial. At the end of the trial period, you will be invited to subscribe. If you choose not to subscribe, your account will revert to a limited free tier or be deactivated — we will communicate this clearly before your trial ends.

Subscription price

HeyAskr costs $6.00 USD per month. This covers one family account with up to three child profiles.

Billing and renewal

Your subscription renews automatically each month on your billing date. Payment is processed by Stripe. You authorise HeyAskr to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel.

Price changes

We will provide at least 30 days' written notice by email before any price increase takes effect. You may cancel at any time before the new price applies if you do not wish to continue at the new rate.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation stops future charges. You retain full access to HeyAskr until the end of your current paid billing period. We do not offer partial-month refunds except where required by law.

8. Refunds

Please see our Refund Policy for full details. In summary: EU/EEA residents have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of first payment. Refund requests outside this window are handled on a case-by-case basis for service failures or billing errors.

9. AI disclaimer — important

HeyAskr uses third-party large language model technology, including Anthropic Claude and OpenAI. These are sophisticated but imperfect systems. While we configure them carefully with your rules and apply additional safety layers, we cannot guarantee that the AI will always respond perfectly, appropriately, or in full accordance with your instructions in every possible scenario.

HeyAskr is not a childcare service, a mental health resource, a medical provider, or a substitute for parental supervision. If your child expresses distress, discloses something serious, or asks questions that concern you, HeyAskr is designed to redirect them to you — but this is not a guarantee.

AI technology is evolving rapidly. We will always work to improve the experience, but we cannot accept liability for outputs generated by third-party AI systems that fall outside our control.

10. Intellectual property

HeyAskr's IP: The HeyAskr platform, including its design, code, branding, and all proprietary systems, is owned by Daníel Þór Magnússon. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of it without written permission.
Your content: The rules, instructions, and preferences you write as a parent remain yours. You grant HeyAskr a limited licence to use this content solely to provide the service to your family. This licence ends when you delete your account.
AI outputs: Responses generated by HeyAskr during your child's sessions are not stored and are not claimed as the intellectual property of HeyAskr.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

HeyAskr is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HeyAskr and its operator from any claim, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, or your violation of any applicable law or the rights of a third party.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or use the service in a way that endangers a child.
For less serious violations, we will attempt to notify you and give you an opportunity to remedy the situation before taking action.
Upon termination, your access to the service ends. We will delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the new terms take effect and update the effective date above. For minor clarifications that do not affect your rights, we may update without prior notice. Continued use of HeyAskr after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you may cancel your account before they take effect.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Iceland, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or the service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Icelandic courts, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under EU law, including your right to seek redress through consumer protection mechanisms in your country of residence.

16. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

17. Entire agreement

These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and HeyAskr regarding your use of the service and supersede all prior agreements or understandings.
